About Southern Splendour Train
Introduced in November,2010 this new South India tour circuit on Golden Chariot train combines the Colonial Charm of Pondicherry Beach town; with finest examples of South India temple architecture & backwaters of Kerala.The Golden Chariot train is a joint venture of Govt of Karnataka & Indian railways & onboard services are managed by Maple Group of Hotels.

Facilities On Board
Each Air conditioned passenger Saloon/Wagon car offers richly furnished Deluxe Cabins with option to book twin/double/triple bedded cabins.all the cabins have small writing table,LCD Television & attached bathroom with hair dryer facility.There are electric sockets ,both in Cabins & bathrooms with 220 AC current supply.The passengers saloons are serviced round the clock by butler,exclusive to 4 cabins. Each one of Passenger Saloon is named after a famous South Indian Kingdoms from medieval times.Enjoy your meals in comfort of two dining cars or unwind in comfort of Madira Bar Lounge. After your excursions & sightseeing tours,rejuvenate in Aryuvedic Spa OR keep yourself fit in the Mini gymnasium.there are limited internet facility available on the train.

Tour Program -southern Splendour
On alternate week's; Golden Chariot train operates on a different South India circuit,called Southern splendour.

Day 1: Mon: BANGALORE Depart
Report by 430 p.m at Hotel Taj west end,Bangalore After check-in formalities; Tour Briefing;High tea & cultural program Arrive at Yashwantpura Railway station by 8 p.m for traditional welcome & be escorted to respective cabins Train Departs by 9 p.m. from Bangalore.  

Day 2: Tue: MAHABALIPURAM
Day excursion(2.5 hrs one way) to UNESCO World Heritage Site of Mahabalipuram sea shore temples from Chennai railway station Lunch in Beach resort at mahabalipuram.

Day 3: Wed: PONDICHERRY
Morning excursion to Auroville Commune,an experiment to create harmony amongst world religious ordersPost lunch enjoy walk through Latin quarters,narrow pebbled streets,of Old pondicherry town,a throwback on the French Colonial rulers Dinner in deluxe hotel.

Day 4: Thurs: TANJORE
The town is famous for it's three dimensional paintings in gold work,unique to the ancient townvisit the UNESCO World heritage site of Brihadeeshwari temple,first constructed in 11th century & later fortified in 16th century.It is the world's first temple ,built completely in granite & has a temple tower,216 feet high.

Day 5:Fri; MADURAI
The town of Madurai is built around the Meenakshi Temple & Concentric rectangular streets surround the temple, symbolize the structure of the cosmos & the entire city is laid out in the shape of a lotus. The Meenakshi temple,believed to have been first built more than 2500 years & present structure completed in 16th century,is dedicated Lord Shiva & his consort Parvati.The complex houses 14 magnificent Gopurams or towers including two Gold Towers.A sight to behold is the thousand pillared hall,each carved in an unique style & constructed in 16th century Evening Enjoy sound & light show in premises of former ruler of Madurai.

Day 6: Sat: KANYAKUMARI & KOVALLAM
Early morning excursion to southernmost tip of mainland peninsular India,to glimpse photo opportunity of sunrise over Indian Ocean horizon later train departs for trivandrum. Late afternoon excursion to Golden Beaches of Kovallam.

Day 7: Sun: Kerala BACKWATERS & KOCHI
Morning excursion through narrow channels of Alleppey & vembanad lake backwaters Lunch in Lakeside resort Late afternoon excursion to Pearl of the East,Kochi port town.

Day 8: Mon; BANGALORE return
Train arrives at Yashwantpura Railway station by 930 a.m. Check-out on arrival.

Extra Costs(not Included) :
Video Camera fees at monuments; alcoholic & non alcoholic beverages; laundry; room services; telephone calls; use of spa & business centre facilities; tips; porter charges, tour insurance; airport transfers; hotel stay & all other expenses of personal nature.

TERMS & CONDITIONS
Booking Procedure
• We require Names/Nationality/Date of birth of all the passengers
• Bookings will be confirmed on receipt of minimum 20% of tour amount
• Balance must be paid before 35 days of tour depart.
• All booking request received<35 days before tour depart, will be confirmed on receipt of full tour amount
• E-Tickets will be issued on receipt of Passport details viz Passport No.,Place & Date of Issue

Cancellation Terms
(i) All cancellation must be made in writing
(ii) 20% of total tour amount, charged as cancellation fee, if intimated more than 32 days before tour depart
(iii) 50% of total tour amount, charged as cancellation fee, if intimated between 17-30 before tour depart
(iv) 100% of tour amount, charged as cancellation fee, if intimated less than 16 days before tour depart
(v) Request for change in Name OR Postponement of journey, governed by cancellation rules
(vi) Non receipt of payment as per payment policy, governed by cancellation rules
(vii) No Show/Refusal to board train tour Or continue journey is non refundable
(viii) Request for change in cancellation policy at sole discretion of Managing Director of the KSTDC,Golden Chariot.

Important:
(a) Disputes if any are restricted to jurisdiction to courts of New Delhi(India)
(b) The guests are requested to obtain their tour insurance from their country of origin of travel
