You are allotted luxuriously furnished cabins with attached bathroom & there are onboard facilities of Bar Lounge & Dining cars.Concept is that overnight you travel from one city to another,where pre-paid tours are already arranged for.The first few runs of Palace On Wheels were started in mid 1980's using Saloon Cars,belonging to former Maharajas in pre-independent India.The present train was introduced in 1996,but has been designed to give traditional rich look of former royalty.

The tales of Riches & Valour of Indian Maharajas have been subject of many a romantic novels,based during British Raaj.Though monarchy was officially banned in 1947,the former Royalty in Rajasthan still owned Magnificent Palaces & Forts.To re-create the magic of bygone era & by providing personalized service of staff wearing traditional attire,the concept of this train tour was launched.Though today ,a number of other luxury trains have been launched in India ,they are yet to beat the magic of the tour circuit , that is Palace on wheels

Question 5. What kind of food is served on the tour?

Ans. There are Two Dining cars with onboard kitchen & some of the meals are also arranged in Palace hotels,during local excursions
There is a wide variety of both Vegetarian & Non Vegetarian meals & you have choice to pick from Continental & India Cuisine
No pork or beef is allowed to be served on the train.For specific diet plan restrictions & child meals,please inform us in advance

Question 6. Is there a Dress Code in the Train ?

Ans. Though there is no official dress code instructions, we suggest you wear light cottons for sightseeing tours,carry a hat & sun glasses & plenty of face cream to avoid the harsh sun.During meals & in bar lounge ,you see most of the people wearing smart casuals ,but some of the guests are also formally dressed

Question 7. How much luggage can I carry ?

Ans. There is no restriction on number of bags you wish to carry OR weight of your luggage
But since there is no facility of baggage storage,all your luggage has to be adjusted beneath the beds in your cabins

Question 8. Will my cabin have attached bathroom?

Ans. All the cabins have private attached bathrooms with shower cubicle & toilet seat.,with running hot & cold water.
But,there is no facility of bath tubs Or hair dryers on the train

Question 9. What is the best time to travel ?

Ans . Due to warm weather conditions there is a discounted rate for months of September & April
During Xmas & New year eve season ,there is a 10% Holiday Surcharge Extra
From last week of October to first Week of March,the day temperatures normally remain below 30 degrees Celsius
The weekly train tour departs Every Wednesday from New Delhi & does not operate in summer months of May to August
